Ozren Mutak comes from Croatia. Alongside his studies at the music high school, he was a private student of the leading local guitarists Zoran Dukic and Goran Listeš. He studied guitar at the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague from 1990 to 1994 in the class of Prof. Milan Zelenka and received a master's degree. He then continued his studies at the University of Music in Würzburg, Germany, with Prof. Jürgen Ruck. From 2016 to 2019 he studied performance and performance theory in the doctoral programme at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. In 2019 he defended his dissertation and received his Ph.D.
Ozren Mutak has collaborated and performed with many renowned musicians in the Czech Republic and abroad (e.g. with violinist Jiří Bezděkovský, Apolon Quartet, accordionist Jarmila Vlachová, composer Prof. Jiří Bezděk and the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra). Together with Prof. Milan Zelenka they founded the guitar "Duo Boemo", with which they regularly performed in 2001 - 2011 and together they recorded a CD recording of chamber music by Milan Zelenka. In the past years he has collaborated with violinist Gabriela Demeterová and Miroslav Táborský on the project "Paganini - God or Devil".
He has performed in the Suk Hall of the Rudolfinum, in the Martinů Hall in Prague and at renowned festivals (e.g. Festival "Internazionale della Chitarra" - Aquila - Italy, Festival "Dani gitare" - Zagreb - Croatia, Festival "Na dvanácti strunách" - České Budějovice, Festival "Kytara napříč genry", Festival "Žižkovský podzim", Festival "Dny soudobé hudby", "International Festival of Chamber Music Klatovy 2013", "Open Guitar Festival" Křivoklát, International Music Festival "Heroldův Rakovník,").
He has recorded for Czech Radio, Czech Television and performed on television in Croatia.
His last solo CD "Guitar - Ozren Mutak'' was praised in the music magazines Harmonie (July 2015) and Hudební rozhledy (November 2015).
Ozren Mutak founded together with Pavel Steidl, prof. Milan Zelenka and Ing. Vilém Žák, a music festival and master classes at Křivoklát Castle, and the Open Guitar civic association, which promotes the classical guitar every year. He conducts professional seminars on the methodology of teaching guitar playing accredited by the Ministry of Education. He has taught at master classes in Croatia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He is a member of juries of various national and international guitar competitions.
In 2O14 he was appointed chairman of the guitar section of the Regional Arts Council of Primary Arts schools of the Central Bohemia Region and in 2023 he was elected chairman of the guitar section of the Central Arts Council of the Czech Republic.
