A unique guitarist, a unique program and an extraordinary venue characterize the concert, which will be the highlight of the festival week. Yamandu Costa represents the best of what Brazilian music offers today and, according to professional critics, is an artist who "seems not even to be from this planet". His playing is a confluence of virtuosity, extraordinary energy, traditional Brazilian folkloric forms and contemporary jazz influences.
The unusual combination of guitar and bandoneon will undoubtedly be an exceptionally attractive evening of the festival. A programme of Argentinian and Cuban music will be presented by the world's best duo of their kind today, Bandini - Chiacchiaretta. These Italian artists are particularly famous for their interpretation of the music of Astor Piazzolla, whose music will dominate the concert.
Guitar music enthusiasts will surely enjoy this double concert, which offers a truly wide range of repertoire for solo guitar performed by two unique artists from Portugal and Hungary. Francisco Luís is currently collecting one award after another at international competitions, and Borbála Seres, an established guitarist for years, is one of the most outstanding artists of the young generation in Hungary.
The opening concert of the festival will belong to the phenomenal Spanish guitarist Ricardo Gallén, who will present his solo recital in the beautiful and acoustically attractive Hall of Mirrors of Primate’s Palace. It will also include music by Cuban composer Leo Brouwer, who described the level of his mastery very rarely seen, with the words: “Immense creativity and virtuosity, which is sensed by just looking at his hands”.
